Live UEAid

Friday 6th March

Programme     Meet the Artists    Meet the Team    Countries in Crisis    Readings    Charities

With ongoing conflicts across our world, it is incredibly important to remind ourselves to stand together. Music can unite us with hope, unity and love. Alliances of Understanding at the University of East Anglia (UEA) invites you to a special concert:

Inspired by the success of the ‘Together for Palestine’ live music event in London last September, the Norwich event is an urgent reminder of the humanitarian crisis faced by those tragically impacted by today’s wars. Held at Voodoo Daddys in the heart of Norwich, the concert should be one to remember, with all proceeds collected going straight to charities tasked with helping Palestinian people, as well as assisting vital aid work in Ukraine and Sudan.

The talented concert line-up will include a range of artists and bands at the University, alongside acts possessing cultural heritage from these affected conflict zones. Poetry and literature readings will thread the music together.

The event will be led by a team of UEA students, covering all aspects of the concert’s organisation – from box office management, stage technicians, promotion and a range of other key roles. This will ensure a professional, unmissable showcase of solidarity, awareness and optimism.

Live UEAid was a huge success, bringing together students, staff, and the Norwich community for an evening of live music in support of humanitarian causes. The concert sold out, with 185 tickets purchased and £1,480 raised for Children Not Numbers, City of Goodness (Misto Dobra), and Mutual Aid Sudan.
The atmosphere was electric, from the grunge energy of Sinkhole to the funky, genre-blending sounds of Eezy, to the moving readings from our talented spoken word performers. The crowd packed out the venue, standing in solidarity not only to enjoy the music but to contribute to important causes.
Beyond the fundraising itself, Live UEAid demonstrated the power of grassroots student initiatives to bring people together around shared values of solidarity and compassion. The event was made possible by the efforts of a large team of student volunteers who worked together to turn an idea into tangible action.
Following the great success of the first event, the team hopes to run more Live UEAid concerts in the future and continue using music as a way to help those in need.
